CityPickle at Wollman Rink closes for the season on October 24, when the Central Park rink switches back to ice. Its 14 outdoor courts were the city’s biggest pay-to-play setup, and they won’t be back until spring. If you played there this summer, this is your winter list: indoor pickleball in NYC and the nearby suburbs, sorted by borough, plus the clinics and events worth putting on the calendar before the year ends.

What’s changing at Wollman

CityPickle’s site now lists Wollman Rink as “Closed for the Season.” The ice rink runs from October 24, 2026 to March 16, 2027, so expect pickleball to return in spring. CityPickle’s other big project, CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge, now says “Opening Spring 2027,” so it won’t fill the gap this winter. The closest CityPickle option indoors is CityPickle Times Square.

Heads-up: Newport Racquet Club in Jersey City is outdoor and seasonal (May to October), so it’s not a winter option.

Before your first indoor session

Indoor courts play differently: softer, larger-hole balls, a faster floor and no wind. Our indoor pickleball guide covers what changes, indoor vs. outdoor balls explains why your outdoor ball won’t feel right, and indoor-season shoes covers footwear for gym floors. For outdoor courts that stay open, see our NYC borough guide and New York metro guide.
